Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) continued its internship collaboration with PT MRT Jakarta, a regionally owned public transportation company operated by the Provincial Government of Jakarta. The internship program was conducted from September 11, 2023, to January 6, 2024, providing students from various academic disciplines, including the Bachelor of Public Administration Program, with valuable opportunities to gain practical experience in the public sector.
As a leading public transportation operator, PT MRT Jakarta represents an important example of public administration in practice. The company is committed to delivering high-quality public services while promoting sustainable urban mobility, making it an ideal learning environment for students interested in public policy, public management, and governance.
Representing the Bachelor of Public Administration Program, Alya Dewi Kinanti and Taufik Akbar completed their internships within the Knowledge Management and Strategic Partnership (KMSP) unit under the Strategic Planning and Subsidiary Management (SPSM) Division. Their work focused on supporting organizational learning and knowledge management initiatives that enable PT MRT Jakarta to preserve institutional knowledge, improve service quality, and serve as a knowledge hub for other cities developing mass rapid transit systems.
Throughout the internship, the students contributed to a wide range of strategic initiatives. They assisted in the preparation of the Community of Metros (COMET) In-Person Meeting, an international forum dedicated to benchmarking and knowledge exchange among metro operators worldwide. They also developed educational video content for the company’s Eduplatform, covering topics such as transit-oriented development, construction, and operations and maintenance, helping strengthen organizational learning across the company.
In addition, Alya and Taufik actively supported Café Talk, PT MRT Jakarta’s corporate knowledge-sharing forum that regularly features internal and external experts. Their responsibilities included event coordination, promotional material development, and serving as event facilitators for onsite, online, and hybrid sessions, allowing them to strengthen their communication, organizational, and project management skills.
The internship also involved participation in the enhancement of the Knowledge, Information, and Education Center (KINETIC) website and mobile application, a digital platform designed to support knowledge management within PT MRT Jakarta. They contributed to the 2nd KINETIC Challenge 2023, which encouraged employees to document innovations, best practices, and organizational learning experiences. Furthermore, they participated in the preparation of the fifth volume of the MRT Jakarta Learning Series, focusing on Governance, Risk and Compliance and Digital Transformation.
Beyond their primary assignments, the students also took part in several corporate events, including Jakarta Innovation Day 2023, gaining broader exposure to innovation and public sector collaboration within the Jakarta Provincial Government.
Through this internship, the students acquired practical experience in public management, organizational governance, strategic planning, and knowledge management while expanding their professional networks. The collaboration between UNPAR and PT MRT Jakarta demonstrates the Bachelor of Public Administration Program’s commitment to providing experiential learning opportunities that prepare students to become competent and innovative public sector professionals.
