The Public Relations Department of the Public Administration Study Program Student Association (HMPSAP) at Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) once again organized a collaborative event aimed at broadening students’ understanding of technological developments in government administration. This time, HMPSAP UNPAR organized a company visit to the East Java Provincial Secretariat under the theme “E-Government: The Readiness of the Government and the Education Sector for Society 5.0 (Personalized Artificial Intelligence).”
The event took place at the East Java Provincial Secretariat office and aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of e-government implementation in East Java Province. The main focus of the event was how local governments are adapting to the developments of Society 5.0, which emphasizes the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into public services to create efficiency, transparency, and ease of access for the public.
In addition to understanding the implementation of e-government, this event also explored the government’s perspective on the role of the education sector in preparing human resources capable of adapting to the digital age. This is crucial, given that rapid technological changes require support from a dynamic and relevant education system. Thus, students are expected to recognize the importance of collaboration between the government and the education sector in order to produce a high-caliber generation ready to face the challenges of Society 5.0.
More than just an educational visit, this event served as an effort to strengthen ties between UNPAR’s Public Administration Program and the East Java Provincial Secretariat. Through this event, it is hoped that opportunities for future collaboration will open up, particularly in public policy innovation and technology-based human resource development.
The series of activities began with a presentation by Mr. Muhammad Maulidza, S.AP., MPM, a lecturer in Public Administration at UNPAR, who discussed the topic “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Public Service.” The presentation provided an in-depth introduction to the role of AI in modernizing public services. The session continued with a presentation by Ms. Retno Yuni Widayaningsih, S.T., M.Med.Kom., a representative from the East Java Provincial Department of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo), who explained the implementation of e-government in East Java along with the challenges and strategies the government is employing to navigate the era of digitalization.
Following the presentation, participants were given the opportunity to engage in a discussion during a question-and-answer session. This allowed students to delve deeper into the topics discussed and gain a better understanding of the practical application of e-government in local government. The event concluded with a symbolic presentation of a plaque from HMPSAP UNPAR to the East Java Provincial Secretariat as a token of appreciation for their hospitality and cooperation. The moment was also commemorated through a group photo session.
Through this event, HMPSAP UNPAR hopes to build strong synergy between the academic community and the government. In addition, this visit is expected to inspire students to play an active role in promoting community-centered e-government development, as well as to prepare themselves to face the challenges of Society 5.0 with a better understanding of the role of technology in building effective and inclusive public services.
