EXPLORING PUBLIC BUREAUCRACY: UNPAR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION STUDENTS VISIT THE MINISTRY OF STATE SECRETARIAT

On October 9, 2025, students from the Bachelor of Public Administration Program at Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) participated in an institutional visit to the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemensetneg) as part of the Student Institutional Visit (Safari Lembaga) program. The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the practice of public administration and the role of bureaucracy in Indonesia’s system of government.

During the visit, students attended presentations delivered by two distinguished speakers: Faisal Fahmi, S.H., M.H., Senior Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of State Secretariat, and Arief Syaiful, S.AP., M.A., Senior Policy Analyst at the Assistant Deputy for Relations with State and Government Institutions under the Deputy for Institutional and Community Relations. Arief Syaiful is also an alumnus of the Bachelor of Public Administration Program at UNPAR.

Through discussions with government practitioners, the 2025 cohort gained a deeper understanding of how public bureaucracy supports policymaking, institutional coordination, and the delivery of public services. The visit enabled students to connect classroom learning with real-world administrative practices while broadening their perspectives on careers in the public sector.

Beyond providing academic enrichment, the Student Institutional Visit strengthened students’ motivation to pursue excellence in public administration and reinforced their commitment to contributing to society through effective, ethical, and citizen-oriented public service.

The Bachelor of Public Administration Program hopes that this experience will serve as an important first step in preparing the 2025 cohort to become future public administrators with integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to public service.
