On October 23, 2024, students from the Bachelor of Public Administration Program at Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) participated in The 5th International Conference on Governance, Public Administration, and Social Science (ICoGPASS) 2024, held at Makarti Bhakti Nagari Building and the NIPA Polytechnic Campus, Jakarta. Organized annually by the NIPA School of Administration in collaboration with the Indonesian Association for Public Administration (IAPA), the hybrid conference carried the theme “Resilient Global Governance: Nurturing Equal Development Policy, Human Resources Management, and Public Sector Economics Amidst the Uncertainties.”
The conference brought together academics, researchers, practitioners, and students from across Indonesia and featured distinguished keynote speakers from leading universities and international institutions. Discussions focused on strengthening global governance, advancing evidence-based policymaking, enhancing public sector management, and fostering institutional resilience in response to contemporary global challenges.
Under the supervision of Tutik Rachmawati, Ph.D., Trisno Sakti Herwanto, S.IP., MPA., Jeffri Yosep Simanjorang, S.Kesos., M.Sos., and Muhammad Maulidza, S.AP., MPM., students from the Bachelor of Public Administration Program presented six research papers at the conference. Their participation demonstrated the program’s strong commitment to academic research and international scholarly engagement.
Among the participating teams, Jovita Anabelle, Loudewyk Marcelano Leyriz Bessie, Amelia Augustine Aan Putri, together with Trisno Sakti Herwanto, S.IP., MPA., received the Third Best Paper Award for their research entitled “Sustainable Solutions to Poverty: Is BLT Truly a Pro-Poor Policy?” The study explored the effectiveness of Indonesia’s Direct Cash Assistance (Bantuan Langsung Tunai – BLT) as a policy instrument for poverty alleviation and contributed to discussions on evidence-based social policy.
In addition to the individual achievement, Parahyangan Catholic University was recognized with the Best Partner Award, reflecting the university’s active contribution to academic collaboration and research excellence within the ICoGPASS community.
These achievements reaffirm the Bachelor of Public Administration Program’s commitment to fostering research excellence, encouraging international academic participation, and preparing students to contribute innovative ideas to the advancement of public administration. The program hopes that these accomplishments will inspire more students to engage in national and international conferences while continuing to produce impactful research addressing contemporary governance challenges.
